About the Role

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of 6 talented engineers. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you'll drive technical excellence, foster innovation, and deliver high-performance systems that scale.

You'll mentor, guide, and empower your team while bridging the gap between technology and business to deliver real impact. This is a role for someone who thrives in fast-paced, complex environments and loves coaching, building, and growing high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

As an Engineering Manager, you will:

Technical Leadership

  • Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance systems.
  • Oversee system architecture, balancing innovation, maintainability, and performance.
  • Drive incident management and operational excellence in compliance-heavy environments.
  • Champion best practices, testing, and quality assurance across teams.

Team Management

  • Mentor, coach, and grow engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and innovation.
  • Provide career guidance, constructive feedback, and motivation.
  • Build cohesion across frontend and backend squads to align goals and delivery.

Strategic & Operational Excellence

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
  • Balance priorities between new feature development, system maintenance, and bug fixing.
  • Drive continuous improvement in workflows, observability, and incident response.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Proven people management and leadership experience.
  • Strong technical background in React, Angular, .NET, C#.
  • Passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing teams.
  • Hands-on understanding of incident management and operational best practices.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in iGaming or high-volume, player-focused platforms.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.

What We Offer

  • Flexible Work - Hybrid & Flexible Working: 2 days in-office and 3 days remote, with flexibility aligned to team and operational needs. Please note that this role is based in Cape Town, and candidates are expected to either be located in Cape Town or willing to relocate. Regular in-office presence on the designated days is a requirement of the role.
