Kalmar Solutions LLC is looking for a driven and experienced Engineering Manager, Structural and Mechanical Systems to support the development, implementation, and validation of structural and mechanical systems for Terminal Tractors. This role is responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of multiple Mechanical Development Engineers to support existing and future vehicle platforms.
The successful candidate will have leadership experience developing Mechanical Engineers to meet their professional growth and company goals. This position is vital for the future growth of the Product Development Team in their ability to deliver the Terminal Tractor Product Strategy Roadmap.
Compensation Data
- Base Salary: $135-$160k per year
- Eligible for Annual Bonus
- Eligible for Annual Salary Review & Merit Increase
- Willing to provide Relocation Assistance
What Are Your Key Responsibilities
- Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and manage mechanical engineers, fostering skill growth, providing feedback, and building a collaborative environment.
- Project Oversight: Execute and oversee multiple engineering projects by managing timelines, resources, and ensuring delivery.
- Technical Review and Problem Solving: Direct technical activities, review designs, ensure technical accuracy, improve processes, and solve complex technical challenges.
- Cross- Functional leadership: Liaise with other departments and external partners to communicate needs, progress, and technical information.
- Process and Quality refinement: Implement and refine development, testing, and development processes, focusing on efficiency, quality, and sustainability.
- Resource Planning: Plan resource requirements, inter-team assignments, and analyze technology trends to complete product development projects.
- System Design Leadership: Lead the development of system requirement definitions to meet customer needs, regulatory requirements, and Hazard Analysis and Risk Management (HARA) mitigations tasks.
- Safety and Reliability leadership: Apply system requirements and design principals to oversee the analysis of system performance to ensure vehicle safety and reliability standards are met.
- Design Ownership: Own the assessment, design, and analysis of mechanical structures, cabin design, pneumatic systems, and electrical component placement and routings.

Education
What you bring to the role:
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
- 7+ years of proven experience in vehicle design, analysis, or a related field
- Mobile equipment experience is a plus
- Experience leading complex design projects. Previous management experience is a plus.
- Comfortable working with requirements management tools (e.g. Jama, DOORS, Jira/Confluence)
Competencies
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using documentation tools and software (e.g., Google Suite, Confluence, etc).
- Strong understanding of requirements engineering principles and methodologies.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to mobile equipment is a plus.
- Fluent in English both spoken and written
Other Information
- Will be required to work closely with other TT RDE personnel, Project Managers, Sourcing & Production groups worldwide.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally will be required
- Business is conducted in English
- This role is part of a global team operating out of both Tampere Finland and Ottawa Kansas.
- Hybrid work available: 3 days in office per week required Travel domestically and internationally will be required
