About

As an Engineering Manager – Team Lead at JTL, you ensure that requirements reliably turn into functioning software. You create clarity about goals, risks, and priorities, and support your team in delivering sustainably and independently. You work closely with Product Management, Tech Leads, and Architecture – you are not responsible for product strategy or architectural decisions, but for operative delivery, team leadership, and transparency in ongoing operations.

At JTL, AI-assisted software development is part of our daily work. Our teams work with GitHub Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT, among others. We don't expect "AI gurus," but openness to modern development tools and the ability to evaluate their use meaningfully.

Specifically, this means:

• You use AI assistants and agents to accelerate your daily work and know when to critically question their output.
• You are familiar with agentic workflows: You give AI tools multi-stage tasks, critically review the results, and work iteratively.
• You actively follow new developments in AI-assisted software development and share your knowledge with the team.

Your Tasks

• You lead multiple development teams technically and disciplinarily and support their professional and personal development.
• You are responsible for the reliable delivery of your teams, ensuring realistic planning, transparency, and early communication of risks.
• You organize and manage the operative development process – refinements, sprint and iteration planning, and ongoing prioritization.
• Together with Product Management, you ensure that requirements are understandable, implementable, and sufficiently prepared.
• You coordinate technical assessments, estimations, and dependencies with Tech Leads and the team.
• You make operative decisions in ongoing operations – for bugs, short-term requirements, or necessary scope adjustments.
• You identify bottlenecks, structural problems, and overload early and make them transparent.
• You ensure comprehensible reporting on progress, risks, and plan deviations.

What You Bring

• You have experience in leading or coordinating development teams – as a Team Lead, Engineering Manager, or in a comparable role.
• You have several years of experience in software development with solid technical understanding.
• You can understand technical contexts and communicate with developers, Tech Leads, and stakeholders at eye level.
• You can manage priorities meaningfully under real constraints.
• You communicate in a structured manner and approach changes and uncertainty pragmatically.
• You ideally have experience working with complex or legacy software systems and iterative software development.
• You are open to AI-assisted development tools and modern development processes.
• You have good German and English language skills.
