Engineering Project Manager

Our client, a leading player within the engineering and mining technology sector, is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to oversee engineering development, product innovation, and technical project delivery across Africa and selected international markets.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end project delivery, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and successful execution of engineering initiatives. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership capability, and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, electronic, software, and hardware environments.

You will work closely with engineering teams, suppliers, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with business strategy and governance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver multiple engineering, mining, and technical projects across Africa and international markets
• Oversee project planning, execution, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and reporting
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams spanning mechanical, electronic, software, and hardware disciplines
• Drive engineering development and product innovation initiatives aligned to business strategy
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers, Statements of Work, and project deliverables
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, operational, and governance standards
• Identify and mitigate project risks while driving continuous process improvement
• Support installations, commissioning, field trials, proof of concepts, and client engagements

Job Experience & Skills Required / Ideal Candidate Profile

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electronic, Mechanical, Systems, Industrial, or related)
• Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
• Postgraduate qualification advantageous

Experience

• Proven experience as a Project Manager within mining, industrial, heavy engineering, or infrastructure environments
• Strong background in engineering project delivery and technical services
• Experience managing multi-site and international projects, preferably across Africa
• Exposure to R&D, product development, and certification environments advantageous
• Experience working in high-pressure and technically complex environments

Skills & Competencies

• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
• Knowledge of system engineering processes and configuration management
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and project governance
• Familiarity with Agile, PMBOK, and PRINCE2 methodologies
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across regions
• Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively across Africa and internationally
