GCSCR is organized into three divisions:

  • HQ Real Estate Development and Management (GCSHQ) – facilities in Washington, DC
  • International Real Estate (GCSIR) – facilities overseas
  • Corporate Real Estate, Center of Excellence (CoE) – hub of expertise driving operational excellence

The division comprises ~100 staff, leverages >500 contractors, and manages an annual facilities capital investment plan of about $155 million globally, working closely with the Regions on the Bank’s >190 locations.

The Engineering Supervisor is accountable for overall supervision of all plant‑operations functions within the Bank’s Headquarters Campus, directing a team of Engineer Mechanics, Operating Engineers, and contracted maintenance support. The role ensures the preventive‑maintenance program, service response, and emergency repairs are addressed cost‑effectively and expediently. The position is based in Washington, DC, working the evening shift (6:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday‑Friday) and reports to the Senior Project Manager of the Engineering and Operations Team.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure continuous, uninterrupted operation of engineering systems serving the assigned buildings and provide proper environmental conditions for all spaces per industry guidelines and operating procedures.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of the annual preventive‑maintenance program for all facilities equipment and systems; maintain accurate preventive‑maintenance database and provide timely trend reports.
  • Review construction plans for the assigned building, providing quality control for heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning (HVAC) systems and approving final construction documents.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Building Managers in GCSHQ to support projects and ensure MEP system integrity is not compromised.
  • Assist in developing annual budget requirements for the assigned buildings; monitor utility usage and contracted‑service expenditures; initiate, review, and approve proposals and invoices for work performed.
  • Monitor condition and efficiency of all engineering systems and equipment; provide input on repair or replacement projects for the Capital Improvement Program.
  • Advise the GCS communications team of scheduled and emergency interruptions to HVAC, plumbing, and fire‑life‑safety (FLS) services to ensure timely announcements to affected staff and units.
  • Monitor service requests, ensure remedial action is taken, note trends, and escalate as needed.
  • Maintain a client‑focused approach and establish professional rapport with occupants of the assigned building.
  • Direct and monitor performance of engineering‑team staff; provide performance evaluations, career‑development guidance, coaching, and counseling.

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with two years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, and at least fifteen years’ experience in operation and maintenance of physical plants for large office buildings or equivalent facilities with complex engineering/plant‑operation systems.
  • Must possess a 3rd Class DC Steam Engineer’s license or equivalent.
  • In‑depth understanding and technical knowledge of mechanical equipment and control systems.
  • Proven ability to supervise, coach, and train others in plant‑operations duties and functions.
  • Proven ability to bring project work to an efficient/timely conclusion.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented, diverse, multicultural environment.
  • Full knowledge/understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS), preferably Siemens Apogee and Desigo.
  • Working knowledge and experience with facilities‑management systems and work‑order management programs (e.g., Tririga).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
