Job Overview

The client is seeking an experienced candidate to join the IT Enterprise Architecture team in the position of Business Systems Analyst for the implementation of an Enterprise Asset Management system. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Business Systems Analyst will support the project through the full life cycle, provide recommendations on process improvement, identify new opportunities, and prepare for each phase of the project. This role contributes to continued growth and success in generating safe, clean, reliable low‑cost power in a sustainable manner.

Key Accountabilities

  • Participate in all phases of the project life‑cycle: Initiation, Planning, Definition, Execution, and Closeout.
  • Contribute to the implementation of a large, complex system with extensive integrations, requiring comprehensive organizational change management.
  • Work with stakeholders to document system architecture and details in LeanIX.
  • Support all stages of the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), including requirements definition, solution architecture & design, software development, system integration, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Support projects through rapid development methodologies such as Agile, Iterative, etc.
  • Foster relationships between business units (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering) and the IT group by interacting with line‑of‑business leaders and power users to understand true business needs, priorities, and strategies.
  • Participate in technology and business risk analysis to identify implications, root causes, and creative solutions.
  • Support and facilitate the development of business cases that will provide funding release through various project gates.
  • Apply industry best practices to help the project team maintain a focus on continuous improvement, including knowledge of project management developments, IT trends, systems management disciplines, and related best practices.
  • Develop project schedules for project deliverables.

Qualifications

Education

  • 4‑year university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other relevant program.
  • Business Analysis certification (an asset).
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (an asset).

Experience

  • 5 to 10+ years of IT experience.
  • Experience contributing on projects through rapid development methodologies such as Agile, Iterative, etc.
  • Experience working with a matrixed delivery model.
  • Thorough understanding of the entire SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
  • Proven track record of creating and maintaining solution documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working experience with Microsoft DevOps for requirements and work management.
  • Excellent familiarity with Microsoft suite of products (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Technical savvy with using and implementing technological solutions.
  • Prior experience managing conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and the ability to provide guidance to the project team and line of business.
  • Proven ability as a team player to understand and manage interrelationships of various internal and external groups to facilitate objectives and ensure stakeholder requirements are satisfied.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, organizational, and planning skills.
