Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing‑intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real‑time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements.
• Work individually or as part of a team.
• Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements and document test results.
• Resolve software problem reports.
• Utilize software development and design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
• Provide specific input to the system design of software components to include hardware/software tradeoffs, software reuse, use of COTS/GOTS in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual components.
• This opportunity is ideal for an experienced technical lead who enjoys working on complex products.
• Serve as the technical lead for a team of software engineers and Dev Ops engineers to provide solutions to mission customers.

The position may allow for partial telework.

Clearance

A current Top‑Secret/SCI with polygraph security clearance is required. Candidates cannot be sponsored or nominated for a government security clearance under this position.

Experience

The candidate must have at least twenty (20) years of general experience in software development or a similar field. A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline may be substituted for four (4) years of general experience.

Required Skills

• Experience using the Linux command line interface
• Experience developing microservices using Java and Spring
• Experience developing and maintaining NiFi workflows, creating custom processors, and coordinating with Dev Ops to scale processing cluster for velocity and volume of data
• Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and containerd
• Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes
• Experience using system monitoring tools including Grafana and Prometheus
• Experience using Git for version control

Desired Skills

• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery principles and tools such as Git Lab CI and ArgoCD
• Experience with Open Search or Elasticsearch for data indexing and retrieval
• Experience with NiFi for dataflow management and ingestion
• Experience with the Amazon HCI platform
• Strong debugging, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to operate effectively in an Agile development environment and on a multi‑disciplinary team
