The Mission
Leidos is looking for a Enterprise Storage Solutions Engineer to enhance the National Digital Exploitation & OSINT Center (NDOC). This key role demands technical expertise in storage engineering, system administration, and operations. You will optimize the configuration of the enterprise storage infrastructure to maximize availability, performance, and capacity. You'll engage in the lifecycle of purchasing, installing, maintaining, and replacing storage devices across both on-premise and cloud IT environments. Your responsibilities will include collecting and analyzing metrics to improve storage operations while identifying risks and developing strategies for risk mitigation. Additionally, you will maintain system documentation and procedures that comply with customer requirements in an Agile framework.
The work location is in Bethesda at the Intelligence Community Campus.
Primary Tasks
- Install, configure, and administer enterprise storage systems from multiple vendors, including Dell EMC and Quantum.
- Manage Rubrik server and client software, scheduling backups and generating necessary status reports.
- Administer Cisco Brocade fibre channel switch fabrics and monitor switch utilization and performance.
- Create and secure SMB file shares.
- Collaborate with server administrators to create, secure, and mount NFS exports.
- Implement Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations plans as per customer requirements.
- Manage Linux and Windows servers to support storage operations, including Rubrik and more.
- Building capacity management dashboards to enhance visibility into enterprise storage health and resource planning.
- Configure Rubrik policies and troubleshoot backup job failures.
- Work with vCenter administrators to provision Storage Area Network (SAN) resources as needed.
- Manage volume snapshots and assist with point-in-time file restores.
- Oversee volume replication for disaster recovery.
- Monitor the health and availability of infrastructure applications and systems.
- Cooperate with vendors to troubleshoot hardware and software failures.
- Coordinate with Change Management for scheduling and conflict resolution regarding updates and maintenance.
- Execute system changes during scheduled maintenance windows.
- Evaluate system performance and capacity trends.
- Resolve tier 2 and tier 3 service requests.
- Identify automation opportunities and develop automated solutions utilizing Dell and NetApp system APIs.
- Seek continuous improvement for efficient operations.
- Engage with Cloud Storage solutions for cloud applications as necessary.
- Function independently with minimal supervision and mentor junior team members.
Basic Qualifications
- Extensive experience in managing and administering Veritas Rubrik.
- Familiarity with scripting technologies such as PowerShell.
- Working knowledge of Unix or Linux-based operating systems.
- Understanding of Distributed File System (DFS).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to mentor junior team members.
- Capable of completing complex projects with minimal direction.
- Experience in supporting a 24/7/365 customer environment independently.
- Proficient in meeting performance metrics and contributing to deliverables.
- Experience working directly with senior management and customers.
- Must meet DoD 8570.11- IAT Level II certification requirements.
- Broad experience administering enterprise-level data storage systems like Dell Storage Center, Dell Compellent, and Data Domain.
- Administration experience in SAN and NAS environments.
- Keystone integration with VMWare ESX Server.
- Knowledge of data migration strategies, snapshots, and volume replication.
- Expertise with file and share permissions in an Active Directory environment.
- Skill in storage monitoring and performance tuning.
- Understanding of Cloud storage management.
Education
- Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years. Education equivalency may be considered, such as an Associate's degree with 12 years of related experience or a High School Diploma with 14 years of related experience.
Clearance Requirement
- US Citizenship is required due to the nature of government contracts.
- TS/SCI with Poly required or TS/SCI with willingness to obtain a poly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Disaster Recovery and COOP storage backup and recovery across data centers and the Cloud.
- Ability to analyze cloud migration approaches to facilitate effective customer decision-making.
- Experience managing Distributed File System (DFS) namespaces.
