About
Develop and support embedded software solutions for aerospace systems and subsystems. Work closely with engineering stakeholders to translate system and hardware concepts into reliable software implementations. Participate in the entire software lifecycle, from initial concept through integration, verification, deployment, and long-term sustainment.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and resolve software defects using structured debugging and performance optimization techniques.
- Review software designs and source code to ensure quality, consistency, and maintainability.
- Participate in integration and verification activities to confirm software performance within complete system environments.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation that supports development, testing, certification, and end users.
- Collaborate across disciplines—including systems engineering, hardware, and program leadership—to meet project objectives.
- Contribute ideas and improvements to enhance development processes, tools, and engineering practices.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in low-level programming languages such as C (assembly experience is a plus).
- Experience working with real-time operating systems and embedded development environments.
- Solid understanding of structured software development practices across the full lifecycle.
- Familiarity with compliance-driven or safety-critical software development standards (e.g., aerospace or avionics guidance frameworks).
- Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple technical tasks while working collaboratively in a team setting.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Open to entry level or May 2026 graduate candidates.
- At least five years of professional experience developing embedded or real-time software solutions.
Work Environment
The position is based in an engineering and production environment located in Lexington Park, MD. The company focuses on the design and build of UAV systems, with work conducted onsite Monday through Friday. The company offers a bonus/profit sharing plan for all employees and has been recognized by Forbes Magazine as a top manufacturer to work for. Additionally, the company has developed UAV technology and products that hold world records for the longest flight without refuel and has doubled in size over the last three years.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hollywood, MD.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $79.33/hr.
