About the role

Purpose

As an EWP Designer, you are responsible for drafting, designing, and managing engineered wood product projects using various design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp. This role involves creating material lists, performing plan takeoffs, ensuring compliance with local building codes, and collaborating with customers and team members to deliver accurate, high-quality project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and design EWP projects using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Chief Architect, and SolidWorks.
  • Interpret and apply local building codes and regulations relevant to engineered wood products.
  • Collaborate directly with customers to understand project needs and ensure successful execution.
  • Create material lists and perform accurate plan takeoffs for project estimating.
  • Coordinate project details and communicate effectively with co-workers to support team alignment and knowledge sharing.
  • Manage project timelines, assist with cost estimates, and ensure design accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree (associates or bachelors) preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Chief Architect, Sketchup, or SolidWorks preferred
  • Understands how to use the International Residential Code book span charts
  • At least one year of experience working as an EWP designer
  • General computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite, ERP system knowledge preferred
