Our client a highly regulated Listed organisation operating within a complex, technology-driven commercial environment. The business is currently undergoing a significant strategic transformation focused on innovation, digital capability, and the development of new revenue streams beyond its traditional core offering.

As part of this evolution, the organisation is investing heavily in technology platforms, data commercialisation, and strategic growth initiatives. Reporting directly to the CEO and forming part of the Executive leadership team, this role will play a critical part in shaping the organisation’s long-term commercial growth strategy.

Job Description

This is a rare Executive-level opportunity to build and scale a new commercial growth function within a complex, high-impact environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO and Board to drive innovation initiatives focused on technology-enabled services, platform development, strategic partnerships, and the monetisation of data and digital capabilities.

The role is geared toward a commercially minded executive who is comfortable operating in ambiguous, high-growth environments where there is no established playbook. This is an opportunity to build and develop a new P&L where you will identify opportunities, develop commercially viable solutions, unlock new revenue streams, and drive long-term strategic growth.

This opportunity would suit an executive with strong exposure to technology-led business models, platform or ecosystem growth strategies, strategic partnerships, and complex commercial environments where governance, stakeholder management, and long-term value creation are critical.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, design, and execution of a completely new commercial growth engine focused on technology platforms and data services, starting from zero revenue.
  • Drive inorganic growth by identifying, evaluating, and leading the due diligence and integration of potential M&A targets that enhance technology or data capabilities.
  • Shape and monetize new technology ecosystems, acting as the commercial lead to sell platform access, infrastructure services, and specialized solutions (e.g., cyber, risk, data) to industry participants.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive go-to-market strategies, client engagement frameworks, and commercial models to drive sustainable revenue growth independent of traditional market volatility.
  • Serve as an executive representative, influencing key industry stakeholders, regulators, and the Board on the strategic direction of commercial innovation and ecosystem expansion.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, agile division from its inception, defining the required organizational structure and talent profile.

Must-Haves

  • Minimum 15 years of senior leadership experience, with at least 6 years at executive level engaging regularly with Board and Exco structures.
  • Proven accountability for enterprise-wide commercial or growth strategy, including demonstrable Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility in a previous role.
  • Extensive experience operating within highly regulated, governance-driven, multi-stakeholder environments (e.g. Financial Services, Telecommunications, or large-scale regulated platforms).
  • Demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth, profitability, and business creation within a technology-led or platform-based business model.
  • Honours degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

Nice-to-Haves

  • MBA or relevant Master’s degree.
  • Direct experience building new business units or revenue streams from a pre-revenue stage (Zero P&L start-up experience).
  • Experience in technology M&A, including deal sourcing, valuation modelling, and post-acquisition integration leadership.
