About the Position
You will take strategic and technical responsibility for our client's cloud platform. You will define target architectures, security and operational standards, and create the foundation for applications to be deployed, integrated, and operated securely, standardized, and scalably in a regulated, highly available cloud environment.
Responsibilities
- You will design the target architecture of the platform based on cloud-native principles and develop reference architectures, blueprints, guardrails, and IaC templates for build, run, and integration.
- You will define cloud-native operational standards (Kubernetes, multi-cluster, Helm, GitOps) as well as consistent deployment, security, and observability patterns.
- You will analyze applications regarding stack, dependencies, AuthN/AuthZ, and operational requirements, deriving migration strategies and tool decisions; you will support the implementation end-to-end, including error analysis and stabilization.
- You will be responsible for the security and compliance architecture (security concepts, accreditation, penetration tests, backup/recovery) based on Zero Trust and regulatory requirements (C5, IT-Grundschutz, GDPR, VS-NfD).
- You will design highly available multi-cluster and multi-site architectures, including fleet management, and review existing architectures for quality, security, and operational readiness.
- You will take on technical leadership in architectural matters, moderate reviews, and promote onboarding, training, and knowledge management (guidelines, training sessions, tutorials).
Must-Have Skills
- Many years of experience as a Solution and Enterprise Architect in the cloud environment
- In-depth expertise in cloud-native architectures (CNCF Landscape, microservices, 12-factor principles)
- Conception, setup, and optimization of operating models using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
- Comprehensive experience in containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, multi-cluster, federation) as well as virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, Linux, KubeVirt)
- Confident use of modern orchestration and platform tools (e.g., Helm, Service Mesh, Crossplane, Gardener)
- Strategic understanding and practical application of GitOps principles (Argo CD, Flux) as well as CI/CD architectures and Git workflows (e.g., GitFlow)
- Proven experience in developing and implementing cloud migration strategies (e.g., Lift & Shift, Cloud-Native Transformation)
- Solid programming and code review experience (e.g., Go, Open Source, Git)
- In-depth knowledge of security and governance frameworks (Zero Trust, BSI IT-Grundschutz, ISO 27001)
- Strong ability to communicate and coordinate with stakeholders at the management level
- Experience in architectural modeling and documentation
- Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience in regulated environments (e.g., public sector, defense, compliance requirements)
- Relevant architectural certifications (e.g., TOGAF, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect – AZ-305, Google Cloud Professional Architect)
- Solid experience in multi-cluster orchestration, highly available architectures, fleet management (e.g., Gardener), and data center design
- Good knowledge of the cloud-native ecosystem and relevant CNCF projects
- Experience in structured stakeholder communication as well as in defining and managing clear work packages
