Job Description

In line with the South African Companies Act, the NPO Act, and donor compliance requirements, POWA is required to appoint external auditors and to rotate audit firms every three years.

We hereby invite qualified, independent, IRBA-registered audit firms to submit proposals for the provision of external audit services to POWA for a period of three (3) years, commencing with the financial year ending 01 May 2026

Roles and Responsibilities

Scope of Work

• Conduct annual statutory audits in compliance with South African auditing standards and donor funding requirements. • Provide audited financial statements for submission to the Board, the Department of Social Development, CIPC, SARS, and funders. • Review internal controls and issue management letters with recommendations. • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and donor agreements.

Qualifications And Requirements

Eligibility Criteria:

Interested Audit Firms Must

• Be registered with the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA) • Have demonstrable experience in auditing Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) • Possess a strong understanding of relevant financial and compliance frameworks, including the Companies Act and the NPO Act • Provide a track record of auditing similar organisations

Submission Requirements

• Company profile and proof of IRBA registration. • Details of experience with NPO/NGO audits and donor-funded organisations. • B-BBEE certificate/affidavit. • Proposed audit methodology and fee structure. • References from at least two comparable clients.
