Finance Systems AI Engineer - Agentic Solutions for Strategic Finance

About the Role

We are building the next generation of financial intelligence within Finance. This is a hybrid role embedded in the Finance organization, designed for someone who understands financial planning systems and can build agentic AI solutions on top of them. You will own the design and delivery of AI-powered agents that automate, augment, and accelerate core finance workflows, including forecasting, variance analysis, headcount planning, allocation modeling, and financial close. You will work closely with Strategic Finance, Financial Systems, and business finance teams to identify high-impact opportunities and deploy production-grade solutions. This is a builder role within Finance, not a traditional engineering or prompt engineering position.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and deploy agentic AI systems that automate financial workflows such as BvA commentary generation, variance investigation, close checklist automation, and headcount reconciliation
• Develop multi-step agents capable of reasoning over financial data, using tools, and producing structured, auditable outputs
• Build and maintain integrations with finance systems including Anaplan, Oracle FCCS, ERP platforms, and data warehouses through APIs and connectors
• Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines over financial data, including GL hierarchies, cost centers, planning model outputs, and historical reporting
• Create tool-use layers that allow agents to query, write, and validate data across finance platforms with strong controls and reliability
• Define and implement evaluation frameworks to measure agent performance, including accuracy, consistency, auditability, and failure modes specific to finance use cases
• Monitor agent performance in production, investigate root causes of errors, and continuously improve reliability and output quality
• Translate core finance processes such as forecasting cycles, close, allocations, and headcount planning into scalable, automated workflows
• Partner with Anaplan model builders and Financial Systems teams to expose planning data programmatically for agent consumption
• Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) for AI-enabled tools and ensure outputs meet finance, audit, and controllership standards
• Act as the primary bridge between Strategic Finance stakeholders and technical teams supporting AI and data infrastructure

What We're Looking For

AI / Technical

• 3+ years of experience building and deploying AI, ML, or data-driven applications, with hands-on experience using LLMs or agent-based systems
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience building end-to-end workflows, including data pipelines, APIs, and system integrations
• Experience building practical AI applications using modern frameworks or tools for orchestration and agent workflows
• Familiarity with LLM APIs and the ability to design reliable, structured outputs for real-world use cases
• Experience working with external data sources and retrieval approaches to ground AI systems in structured data
• Ability to design and build multi-step workflows where AI systems reason, take actions, and interact with tools or data sources
• Experience evaluating and improving AI systems, including accuracy, reliability, and performance in production settings
• Comfortable debugging and iterating on AI systems based on real-world usage and failure cases

Finance Systems & Strategic Finance

• Experience working in or closely with Finance, Financial Systems, or data-driven business functions
• General understanding of financial planning concepts such as budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Familiarity with enterprise systems or structured data environments (e.g., finance platforms, ERPs, or data warehouses)
• Exposure to working with structured datasets such as financial, operational, or headcount data
• Ability to interpret and work with business or financial reports and understand how data flows across systems

What Makes This Role Unique

Most AI roles sit within engineering or product teams without direct access to finance workflows or systems. Most finance roles do not have the mandate to build AI solutions.This role combines both. You will operate directly on financial systems and data, building agentic solutions that reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and accelerate decision-making across Finance.

Ideal Candidate

You have experience in Strategic Finance or Financial Systems and have seen firsthand how much of the work is manual, repetitive, and difficult to scale. You have started building tools or experimenting with AI to solve these problems and are looking to apply those skills in a dedicated role. You are comfortable operating across finance and engineering, and you are motivated to build systems that meaningfully change how finance teams work.
