Client Overview:

Our client is an independent state authority that provides financing for critical infrastructure projects across New Jersey. Working in partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Emergency Management (OEM), and Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), the company supports transportation, resilience, and water quality initiatives. They are currently seeking a Temporary Financial Analyst to join their team.

Position Overview:

The Financial Analyst will support the administration of a government loan program. This role focuses on tracking program activity, maintaining financial models, and ensuring accurate reporting of loan balances and fund distribution. The position requires a detail-oriented professional who can quickly learn program requirements and maintain a high level of accuracy in financial data management.

Responsibilities of the Financial Analyst:

  • Prepare and maintain financial models and tracking tools.
  • Track and support the distribution of program funds, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Reconcile loan balances and ensure records align across systems and reports.
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of loan statements to borrowers.
  • Respond to borrower inquiries with clear and accurate information.
  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies in coordination with internal teams.
  • Prepare routine reports and support ongoing program tracking.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and program support tasks as needed.
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial records.

Required Experience/Skills for the Financial Analyst:

  • Strong understanding of financial analysis and reporting principles.
  • Experience with data tracking, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Clear and professional communication skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Financial Analyst:

  • Experience working with loan programs or financial tracking systems.
  • Familiarity with fund disbursement processes and loan balance tracking.
  • Experience in a government or quasi-public environment.
  • Experience with databases such as Microsoft Access (a plus).

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required.
