About

This role is responsible for overseeing full-cycle finance and accounting operations within a multi-entity, cross-border environment. The Financial Controller manages financial reporting, tax compliance, budgeting, cash flow, and ERP system ownership, while also providing strategic financial insight to support business decisions.

The position also plays a key role in leading an ERP implementation (Sage Intacct), including go-live, stabilization, and post-implementation optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and departmental P&Ls under ASPE.
  • Ensure timely balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities.
  • Present quarterly financial packages and support board reporting.
  • Oversee accounting accuracy for invoicing and expense reporting.

Tax Compliance

  • Coordinate corporate tax filings (Canada and US entities) with external advisors.
  • Ensure compliance with sales tax obligations (GST/HST/QST and US equivalents).
  • Manage tax remittances within required deadlines.

Budgeting & Planning

  • Lead annual budgeting process with operations and finance teams.
  • Support debt tracking and long-term financial planning.
  • Review and maintain company expense policies.

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Manage daily cash positioning across multiple entities and currencies.
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning.
  • Manage FX exposure and intercompany funding.

ERP Implementation & Optimization

  • Support UAT testing, data validation, and workflow configuration.
  • Lead go-live readiness and post-implementation stabilization.
  • Establish new close processes and strengthen internal controls.

Leadership & Other Duties

  • Supervise accounting staff.
  • Collaborate closely with operations on financial insights and performance.
  • Continuously improve accounting processes and internal controls.

Profile Requirements

  • CPA with 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and corporate finance functions.
  • Experience in multi-entity and cross-border environments.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Proven experience with ERP implementations (Sage Intacct an asset).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
