About the role
Role
- Contribute to the design and development of embedded firmware architectures optimized for controlling families of VI Chip power components.
- Collaborate closely with analog engineers to develop control algorithms and embedded firmware for power supply platforms. Diagnose issues and implement updates or bug fixes using scope traces and other hardware based data.
- Define standardized processes, methodologies, and tools for creating power converter control algorithms applicable across VI Chip product lines.
- Integrate product, manufacturing, and test requirements into all phases of firmware design.
- Evaluate and select microcontrollers through trade off analysis to meet performance, functionality, and cost objectives.
- Analyze requirements, break down tasks, estimate effort, and work with the team to meet project deadlines and milestone commitments.
- Mentor hardware power supply engineers, enabling them to effectively participate in firmware development efforts.
- Ensure the application of formal development practices and industry best standards when creating reusable firmware modules for VI Chip products.
- Participate in defining requirements, writing design specifications, and contributing to overall system documentation.
- Support unit testing, verification, and validation activities to ensure firmware robustness and performance.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, microcontroller/microprocessor programming, and hardware/software debugging.
- Proficiency in C and Assembly language programming.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality work under tight timelines.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to partner across engineering, marketing, and manufacturing teams.
- Self-driven with strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized, detail oriented, and an effective communicator.
- Prior experience with power supply design and testing is a significant plus.
- Experience with Simulink, State Flow, Microsoft Visual Studio, and ARM Cortex?M0 architectures is a plus.
