Fluent OMS Solution Architect

Fluent/Commerce OMS Solutions Architect ~ Freelance ~ 3 month + extensions

RED are currently seeking 1 Fluent/Commerce OMS Architect, to join a long-term Freelance project starting as 3 month + extensions.

Contract length: 3 month + extensions

Location: Fully remote

Responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current OMS and e-commerce solution landscape, including architecture, integrations, operational processes, security considerations, data flows, and non-functional requirements.
• Establish a clear view of the existing platform baseline and recommend a practical roadmap for enhancements, scalability improvements, and optimisation initiatives.
• Provide architectural guidance across OMS and unified commerce capabilities, ensuring alignment with best practices for order management, inventory visibility, sourcing, payments, fulfillment, and customer service operations.
• Partner with technical and delivery stakeholders to review findings, align on architectural direction, and support key design decisions and trade-offs.
• Work closely with development leads and engineering teams to support solution design, resolve complex technical challenges, and maintain architectural consistency across delivery streams.
• Drive architecture governance activities, including design reviews, standards definition, technical oversight, and architecture decision management.
• Review and enhance integration and API frameworks, focusing on resilience, reliability, data consistency, error handling, and event-driven communication patterns.
• Evaluate the overall security posture of the OMS ecosystem, identifying risks and recommending improvements related to access controls, auditability, secrets management, and data protection.
• Support rollout and expansion activities across multiple markets and business entities within a large-scale commerce transformation environment.
• Contribute to the implementation and extension of OMS business capabilities, integrations, and platform enhancements.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in Solution Architecture or Technical Architecture roles within OMS, e-commerce, or unified commerce environments.
• Strong expertise with FluentCommerce OMS / Fluent OMS solutions and related architecture principles.
• Deep understanding of distributed order management, omnichannel commerce processes, inventory visibility, sourcing logic, and fulfillment operations.
• Experience designing and supporting SaaS-based OMS and commerce ecosystems at enterprise scale.
• Strong knowledge of API-driven and event-based integration approaches.
• Experience integrating OMS solutions with ERP platforms, commerce applications, and external SaaS services.
• Solid understanding of architecture governance, design review processes, and technical standards management.
• Experience identifying and addressing scalability, resilience, operational, and security challenges within enterprise platforms.
• Familiarity with modern commerce technologies and ecosystems, including commerce platforms and related enterprise applications.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience collaborating across architecture, engineering, and product teams.
• Experience supporting multi-country or multi-brand rollout programmes within large organisations.
• Comfortable working within agile delivery models and distributed international teams.
