Focus on AI - Backend Developer (m/w/d) - J25838

About the Role

• Develop, implement, and maintain backend services using Python (Django, Flask, FastAPI, or similar)
• Build and manage AI‑driven features, including working with embeddings, semantic search, and vector databases
• Design and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate external APIs into internal systems
• Develop and maintain Jenkins automation pipelines for scheduled jobs and backend workflows
• Work with relational databases and participate in SQL schema design, optimization, and query performance
• Ensure system performance, scalability, and reliability for internal applications
• Collaborate closely with team members in the Düsseldorf office, including AI engineers, frontend developers, and product stakeholders
• Participate in agile ceremonies: stand‑ups, sprint planning, code reviews, and architecture discussions
• Keep up to date with backend, DevOps, and AI/ML trends, contributing ideas to improve the tech stack

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• 2+ years of experience in backend development with Python (Django, Flask, FastAPI, or similar)
• Solid understanding of AI concepts, especially embeddings, vector search, and semantic matching
• Hands‑on experience building and consuming REST APIs
• Knowledge of Jenkins or other CI/CD tools for automation
• Experience with SQL databases, including schema design and optimisation
• Familiarity with containerisation (Docker) is a plus
• Experience integrating external APIs into backend systems
• Version control experience (Git)
• Fluent in English (German is a plus but not required)
• Passion for building intelligent backend systems and working in a collaborative, innovation‑driven team
