Summary

This position is located in the DEA, Human Resources Division, Health Services Section (HRU).

The position’s primary purpose is to assist the Chief, Medical Exams within the Health Services Section (HRU) in planning and implementing the DEA's Foreign Medical Program, to include the full‑cycle foreign medical process, urgent and emergent medical evacuation process, overseas hospitalization process, and provision of layette needs for overseas personnel and their families.

Duties

Your Typical Work Assignments May Include

  • Providing administrative and professional program planning and management to facilitate medical care and clearance for DEA personnel and families.
  • Developing and coordinating fiscal planning and programming documents to support program development.
  • Representing the Foreign Medical Program and Chief, Medical Exams at trainings, management conferences, and meetings.
  • Conducting training for on‑site coordinators, managers, and supervisors concerning relevant medical processes.

Applicants must meet the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of the announcement.

Applicants applying for the GS‑12 must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS‑11 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following:

  1. Assisting with overseeing medical clearance processes to include managing urgent medical evaluations, coordinating hospitalizations, and addressing layette needs;
  2. Preparing program cost estimates and/or budgets;
  3. Coordinating with stakeholders to meet program objectives;
  4. Recommending improved management programs and planning systems;
  5. Assisting with developing operating policy, procedures, and guidelines.
