a YC-backed pre-seed startup building AI sales agents for the insurance industry.

Compensation:

$150k - $300k + equity

Role Snapshot:

Founding AI Engineer. You will build their AI product systems end-to-end, from agent architecture and tool use to evals, infrastructure, and customer deployments.

What This Role Is About:

You will be the first engineering hire at a 3-person founding team building AI sales agents for the insurance industry. The role spans the full agent stack: tool use, backend services, evals, infrastructure, and production deployments at insurance customers.

Location:

San Francisco, in office.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

• Build AI product systems end-to-end: tool use, backend services, evals, production monitoring, and customer deployments.
• Improve agent quality, latency, safety, and cost through better architectures, feedback loops, and evaluation harnesses.
• Use agentic coding tools aggressively and responsibly, and turn one-off production lessons into reusable product and platform capabilities.

Who Will Thrive in This Role:

• You have shipped AI products, agent workflows, or LLM systems end-to-end in production and know when to trust an agent versus intervene.
• You reason across the full stack: app code, APIs, databases, cloud, and operational tooling, and you have strong product taste.
• You want pre-seed intensity, in-office in San Francisco, and direct contact with insurance buyers in a regulated environment.
