Research Engineer in Audio & Speech
Blynt AI
About the role
About Blynt
At Blynt, we are building the interface of the future: voice that just works. Our team previously built Sonos Voice Control, delivering a production-grade voice experience to millions of users worldwide while pushing the technical boundaries, with a fraction of the resources of Big Tech and running the entire AI stack directly on Sonos speakers under extreme runtime and optimization constraints. Few teams worldwide have shipped a voice experience that combined technical excellence with meaningful adoption. This is the standard we set for ourselves at Blynt: bold science and engineering ambitions within a delightful product experience.
We focus on everything that happens between the microphone and the AI agent: turning raw, continuous audio into structured, real-time events that downstream systems can act on. Our model stack spans speech enhancement, real-time transcription and turn-taking, with environmental and paralinguistic understanding on the roadmap.
Powering the next generation of real-world agentic interactions, from robots to wearables and beyond, requires a step change in the underlying technology. That's what we're building. With more than a decade of experience in Audio and Speech AI, we understand the full stack and we know which techniques work in theory and which survive contact with production. That depth, combined with a product-driven culture and hands-on technical execution, is our edge.
We're based in Annecy and Paris. Remote works for people who thrive in it. Annecy offers a unique environment for those who feel alive when connected with nature and mountains, yet have bold professional ambitions and love in-person work.
The role
As a Research Engineer in Audio & Speech, you will own key parts of our model stack from research through production. This is not a pure research role where papers are the output. You will design, train, evaluate and deploy models that run in real-time, in production, at scale. You'll work at the intersection of research and engineering, translating state-of-the-art ideas into systems that work reliably in the real world. Your work will directly shape the core technology behind Blynt: the speech stack that power every customer interaction.
Key Challenges

What we're looking for
Required:
Nice to have:
- Experience with inference optimization (quantization, distillation, ONNX, TensorRT)
- Experience with streaming model architectures and real-time audio processing
- Familiarity with on-device deployment constraints
What we offer
- A founding role in a company built by people who have shipped speech AI at scale before
- Transparent, non-negotiable compensation with meaningful equity
- The chance to work on hard, real problems in speech AI with a team that knows the domain deeply
- Annecy, Paris, or remote: mountains, lake, and a quality of life that's hard to beat in European tech
