Job Description

The Senior Content Marketing Manager will maintain continuity of consumer education, editorial direction, and content operations during the Director of Content’s parental leave. This is a temporary consulting engagement requiring a seasoned editorial leader who can step into an existing strategy, move quickly, and operate with minimal ramp time. The ideal candidate has deep experience in complex technical categories, strong instincts for both quality and efficiency, and a collaborative working style that integrates seamlessly into a cross-functional team.

Key Responsibilities

Content Strategy & Planning:

  • Partner with the Head of Brand on content calendar oversight and planning across SE’s full content ecosystem, including core website content, blogs, evergreen educational content, research and reports, and video and multimedia.
  • Maintain the content calendar on an ongoing basis to ensure accurate reflection of the current plan and due dates.
  • Collaborate with staff writers and freelancers to manage workload and maintain team velocity under direction from the Head of Brand.

Content Development & Operations:

  • Own core articles in EV, retail energy, and heat pump content verticals.
  • Peer edit high-impact content to uphold quality, accuracy, and brand voice.
  • Upload and manage content accurately in Storyblok, including updates to existing landing pages.

SEO & Data Analysis:

  • Partner closely with the SEO team to maintain momentum on organic traffic growth priorities and ensure briefs align with keyword and performance strategy.
  • Apply strong data analysis skills across owned and third-party data to support content.
  • Lead content planning meetings to assess past performance and set plans for the upcoming month.

Cross-Functional Partnership:

  • Represent content in relevant planning meetings and cross-functional reviews.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of experience contributing to and/or leading editorial and content programs for brands or organizations.
  • Strong writer and editor with excellent judgment, research capability, and attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in climate/sustainability, energy, environmental science, or a similarly complex technical category strongly preferred.
  • AI-savvy with demonstrated ability to both scale and humanize content in a hybrid production model.
  • Demonstrated experience managing CMS platforms and project management tools; experience with Storyblok and Asana is a plus.
  • Experience collaborating with senior writers and external contributors.
  • Proven ability to step into an existing strategy and team quickly with minimal ramp-up.
  • Comfortable operating as a temporary owner and decision-maker.
  • Highly organized, pragmatic, and collaborative.
  • Prior consulting or freelance experience is a plus.

Additional Information

The role requires being onsite in Boston or within commuting distance for team content meetings during remote time due to office remodeling.
