Role Overview

As a Front End Software Engineer, you will engage actively in release planning, scoping, and road-mapping initiatives. Your role will involve technical discussions and brainstorming sessions to develop innovative mobile, web, API-driven, and AI-enabled banking products. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor and guide colleagues on best practices and effective technical design.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Implement responsive front-end designs to ensure consistent user experiences across platforms.
• Take ownership of the development, maintenance, and support of React components.
• Add custom branding for white-label clients, including logins and user portals.
• Consistently deliver high-quality code on schedule.

Work Arrangement

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement. At Nelnet, we value work-life integration and flexibility. Associates residing within 30 miles of an office may work remotely part of the week while fostering collaboration through in-office presence three days a week.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required.

EXPERIENCE:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience delivering front-end code in a corporate setting is required.
• Proficiency in React and solid experience with ES6/7 JavaScript is essential.
• Experience with design and prototyping tools, preferably Figma and Illustrator, including slicing from layered design files.
• Familiarity with other programming languages (such as C#, Java, PHP, ASP, ColdFusion, etc.) is a plus.
• Required experience in React, HTML5, CSS3, SASS, and cross-browser development.
• Comfortable working on AI-related projects and product enhancements within a broader engineering role.

Salary

Salary for this role ranges from $130,000 to $150,000 annually, depending on experience.
