Alderson Loop is seeking a Front-End Engineer to support a large-scale modernization initiative for a leading payroll and benefits organization. This role is ideal for a React-focused developer who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys building modern, scalable applications from the ground up.

The team is transitioning from a long-standing legacy .NET monolith into a modern React + AWS-driven platform, and they are looking for someone who can help accelerate that transformation. The ideal candidate is someone with strong React experience, solid front-end fundamentals, and the ability to work from loose requirements while helping shape the future of the platform.

This person will work closely with senior engineering leadership and broader product and development teams to build polished, user-friendly solutions while contributing to a highly collaborative, startup-like environment.

Key Responsibilities

Front-End Development

• Design, build, and enhance modern front-end applications using React and JavaScript
• Support the development of a next-generation platform built on top of an existing legacy system
• Create scalable, maintainable UI components and front-end architecture
• Help improve usability, accessibility, and overall user experience across customer-facing applications

Product & Design Collaboration

• Work from product specs, examples, and general direction rather than fully refined design handoffs
• Bring strong UI/UX judgment and design awareness to help shape the final product
• Collaborate with product owners and engineering teams to iterate quickly and improve functionality

Modernization & Innovation

• Support the transition from legacy .NET systems to a modern cloud-native environment
• Leverage AI tools, coding assistants, and agentic workflows to improve development speed and efficiency
• Help establish repeatable front-end patterns, scalable workflows, and stronger development practices

Cross-Team Collaboration

• Partner closely with lead engineers, product owners, and technical leadership
• Occasionally support or integrate with legacy .NET environments when needed
• Participate in a highly collaborative, Agile-style delivery environment with fast iteration cycles

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in front-end engineering or full stack development with strong front-end focus
• Strong hands-on experience with React and modern JavaScript development
• Ability to build polished, scalable front-end solutions beyond basic forms and page layouts
• Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and ability to work from loosely defined requirements
• Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with evolving priorities
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to move quickly and independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to AWS environments and cloud-native application development
• Familiarity with serverless concepts such as Lambda and modern cloud architecture patterns
• Experience with design systems, reusable UI patterns, or tools like Storybook
• Exposure to AI coding assistants, agentic workflows, or AI-enabled development tools
• Familiarity with Python, .NET, or legacy Microsoft environments
• GitHub, portfolio, or code samples demonstrating front-end work
