About the role

Overview Join GovCIO as a Full Stack Developer with expertise in React-Redux and Ruby on Rails. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a cross-functional team focused on enhancing VA.gov with impactful features. In this role, you will help coordinate development efforts across various departments, ensuring smooth and timely feature rollouts. Ideal candidates will bring strong skills in Ruby, Rails, and related backend technologies including Swagger docs, Git, and Sidekiq. Familiarity with DevOps tools and AWS is advantageous. This role offers the flexibility of remote work for candidates located in the Continental United States. Responsibilities • Design and develop user interface components using React.js paired with Redux while implementing backend functionalities with Ruby on Rails, alongside JSON controllers and Sidekiq. Focus on robust server-side logic and smooth database integrations.

• Engage in system planning and facilitate the development and deployment processes while adhering to software compliance and testing standards.

• Contribute to backend development processes, comply with system guidelines, and conduct necessary system analysis to clarify intentions, specifications, and strategies.

• Collaborate closely with fellow developers to ensure high-quality project outcomes and meet deadlines.

• Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the team.

• Champion best practices and coding standards to uphold high-quality deliverables.

• Assist in gathering requirements, developing system stories, and planning project timelines.

• Play an active role in creating comprehensive documentation, including reports, operational procedures, and maintenance manuals.

• Participate in integration testing to guarantee seamless functionality and robustness of systems.

• Maintain open lines of communication with stakeholders to ensure alignment and promptly address project issues.

• Actively engage in code reviews and sprint assessments to ensure compliance with contractual and project standards.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent experience). Required Skills and Experience: • Proven experience with React/Redux and Ruby on Rails, along with backend system management.

• Sharp analytical and investigative skills.

• Expertise in working independently with minimal supervision.

• History of collaborating effectively within a development team.

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Scrum processes.

• Extensive understanding of the software development lifecycle.

• Experience with AWS cloud environments, as well as unit and end-to-end testing.

Clearance Required: Public Trust Preferred Skills and Experience: • Experience working with customers, product owners, business analysts, UI/UX designers, and development teams in an agile setting.

• Background in federal processes, preferably with the VA or other federal agencies.

• Familiarity with the VA.gov platform for effective navigation and optimization.

• Knowledge of government cloud hosting solutions and management of web hosting environments.

• Skilled in managing API services within the VA network and optimizing RESTful API transactions.

• Expertise in system integrations is desirable, especially experience with systems like CorpDB, MPI, BDN, or VBMS.
