Full Stack Software Engineer (Rust)

We are seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our software team within the PCR Hardware domain. This role focuses on developing high-quality software for medical and diagnostic devices used in Molecular Lab, Core Lab, and Point-of-Care environments.

You will work hands-on across the full software lifecycle—from design and development to testing and release—while collaborating closely with hardware and interdisciplinary teams in a regulated medical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications
• Develop systems using Rust, including asynchronous and event-driven components
• Work with Linux-based systems and containerized environments
• Collaborate with hardware, electronics, and cross-functional teams
• Contribute to documentation and ensure compliance with medical device standards

Required Qualifications

• University degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Industry experience as a Software Engineer
• Strong experience with Rust
• Solid understanding of ownership, borrowing, and lifetimes
• Experience with async programming (async/await)
• Familiarity with Rust libraries such as tokio, serde, actix-web, rocket, or sqlx
• Experience with Linux and Docker
• Initial experience working in regulated environments (medical devices preferred)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Fluent in English (German is an advantage)

Nice to Have

• Experience in Agile environments
• Knowledge of RabbitMQ
• Experience with CAN bus
• Understanding of event-driven architectures
• Basic scripting skills
