Join our client, a leader in the retail industry, as a GCP Data Solutions Engineer in an exciting 12+ month contract position that offers full remote flexibility (EST). This role provides an exceptional opportunity to impact data strategies and innovations.

As a reminder, applicants must be open to working on a W2 basis.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable data platforms and products in the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).
• Develop and sustain core data domains, curated datasets, and semantic layers for analytics consumers.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement architectural improvements, modernize platforms, and enhance data integrity.
• Provide hands-on leadership, including collaboration, code reviews, and complex backend data engineering tasks.
• Optimize performance, cost, scalability, and analytical accuracy within the EDW ecosystem.

Experience Requirements

• 3+ years in backend data engineering or analytics platform engineering.
• Hands-on experience with GCP environments is a must.
• Strong background with cloud data warehouses, especially with BigQuery.
• Expertise in SQL and proficiency in Python.
• Experience designing enterprise-grade data models, including curated datasets.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and orchestration tools like Jenkins and Airflow.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with universal or shared semantic modeling across various domains or products.
• Strong understanding of performance tuning, resilience, scalability, and cost optimization in large data settings.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and influence architectural design decisions.
• Exposure to Dataform and Vertex AI is advantageous.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is preferred.
