About the role
Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Engineer to partner with our airline client – a major international carrier based in Dubai – for their Distribution and Revenue technology functions. This role serves as the primary quality gate for all GDS and Interline distribution systems, responsible for end-to-end test design and execution across Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport. The successful candidate will validate the integrity of fare loading, accuracy of interline pricing, SSR transmission workflows, and PSS/DCS integration correctness, and will lead test cycles for major product releases such as new fare family introductions and market expansions.
Key Responsibilities
GDS Functionality Testing
- Design and execute test cases covering Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport availability, fare display, pricing, booking, and ticketing.
- Validate fare mapping, booking class configuration, and inventory management within each GDS platform.
- Test pricing accuracy for Bargain Finder Max (BFM), Amadeus Fare Quote, and Travelport Universal API.
- Verify brand fares (ATPCO Category 204) display fare family attributes correctly in GDS shopping results.
- Validate PNR construction, including OSI/SSR generation, ticketing time limits, and queue placement.
- Test end-to-end e-ticket issuance, including fare basis codes, tax calculation, and baggage allowance display.
Interline Functionality Testing
- Test interline pricing – NUC construction, ROE application, chart 2 currency mapping, and fare construction.
- Validate Category 10 combination rules for interline fare pairings across carriers.
- Verify SSR transmission (CBBW, CBBJ, SEAT, MEAL, FQTV) from originating carrier to operating carrier PNR.
- Test interline e-ticketing – validate coupon attribution, service class, and fare basis per segment.
- Validate IATA apportionment calculation and interline settlement via BSP/ICH settlement reports.
PSS and DCS Integration Testing
- Test interline availability sales and inventory reduction on partner and codeshare systems, PSS and DCS integration testing.
- Test fare configuration in PSS (Amadeus Altéa, Sabre SynXis, SITA), including seat maps and boarding rules.
- Validate DCS check-in reads CBBW/CBBJ SSR and applies correct baggage allowance at the gate.
- Test FFP/loyalty mileage accrual rates for new fare configurations in partner and interline itineraries.
- Verify flight schedule change handling and queue management for affected bookings in GDS and PSS.
Management and Reporting
- Design comprehensive test plans, test scripts, and traceability matrices for GDS and distribution.
- Lead UAT sessions with Booking, Ticketing, Revenue Management, and Interline partner teams.
- Manage defect lifecycle – log, categorize, track, and verify resolution for P1–P4 defects.
- Produce test summary reports including pass/fail metrics, defect trends, and go/no-go recommendations for senior leadership.
- Participate in go-live readiness assessments and post-go-live regression testing cycles.
Required Skills and Experience
- 6+ years of QA experience in an airline, GDS, or travel technology environment; 5-8 years of total QA experience.
- Hands-on testing experience on at least 2 of the 3 major GDS platforms: Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport.
- Experience testing ATPCO fare entry outputs, including rule categories, OBIF, and baggage tables.
- Proven track record in leading interline testing – pricing, SSR transmission, and interline ticketing workflows.
- Experience with PSS platforms such as Amadeus Altéa, Sabre SynXis, or SITA Departure Control.
- Involved in at least one major airline distribution implementation: new fare families, new markets, or NDC release.
- Strong business analysis skills – ability to interpret requirements, write test scenarios, and bridge technical and business teams.
