The Position
The GenAI and Automation Developer will support the development and integration of generative AI and automation solutions within the firm. The role involves contributing to the design, build and deployment of AI‑driven applications and robotic process automation (RPA) workflows to help streamline business processes, enhance internal efficiencies and support innovative service offerings.
The position requires a sound technical foundation in generative AI and automation, along with the ability to apply established design principles, governance controls and quality standards to ensure solutions are secure, reliable and fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
Generative AI Development & Research
Design & Development
- Contribute to the design and development of generative AI applications aligned to defined business requirements.
- Build and support GenAI solutions within Microsoft’s Azure environment, using Microsoft Foundry as a core platform for developing and integrating production‑ready generative AI applications.
- Apply established solution design principles when implementing GenAI applications, considering scalability, security, data sensitivity and maintainability.
- Implement appropriate GenAI delivery patterns based on guidance and solution context, including:
- direct GenAI or LLM‑based application pipelines for well‑scoped use cases;
- retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) patterns where enterprise or domain knowledge needs to be incorporated;
- agentic AI approaches for more complex, multi‑step or interactive workflows.
- Contribute to the delivery of AI assistants and agent‑based solutions, using a combination of pro‑code and low‑code approaches across Microsoft Foundry and Copilot Studio, in line with existing design patterns and standards.
- Extend platform capabilities through custom development where required, under agreed engineering and governance guidelines.
Testing & Optimisation
- Support development, testing and optimisation activities to ensure AI applications meet expected performance, accuracy and compliance requirements.
- Apply prompt refinement, retrieval optimisation and model‑level adjustments where appropriate to improve solution quality.
- Follow prompt engineering practices to reduce hallucinations and ensure responses remain aligned to business context.
Innovation & Research
- Stay informed of developments in generative AI technologies and tools relevant to the role.
- Participate in proofs of concept and pilot initiatives under the direction of more senior team members, helping assess feasibility, risks and potential value.
Automation Development (RPA)
Workflow Automation
- Design and implement automated workflows and RPA solutions using Microsoft Power Automate and related tools.
- Develop and maintain solutions within the Microsoft Power Platform, including the use of Power Apps where user interaction or oversight is required.
Process Improvement
- Support the identification and assessment of business processes for automation opportunities.
- Implement automation solutions that improve efficiency, reduce errors and enhance process consistency.
Monitoring & Maintenance
- Monitor and maintain automation workflows to ensure reliability and performance.
- Apply fixes and enhancements in response to process changes, incidents or evolving requirements.
Integration & Collaboration
- Work with IT and other stakeholders to integrate AI and automation solutions into existing systems and workflows.
- Use standard Power Platform connectors and custom integrations to connect solutions with Microsoft 365 and other enterprise systems.
- Support requirements gathering, user acceptance testing and iterative improvements to ensure solutions meet agreed objectives.
Governance & Best Practices
- Follow established ethical guidelines, data protection requirements and internal governance policies when developing AI and automation solutions.
- Apply responsible AI principles, security controls and agreed safeguards to deployed solutions.
- Contribute to MLOps and operational practices such as source control, versioning and basic monitoring of AI solutions in production environments.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Maintain technical documentation for AI and automation solutions in line with team standards.
- Support the development of user guides and training materials as required.
- Share knowledge and lessons learned through team‑level knowledge‑sharing activities.
