About Our Client

Our client is a leading global supplier in the automotive industry, specializing in high‑quality engineered assemblies and components. With a commitment to innovation and vertical integration, we provide a dynamic environment for finance professionals looking to make a tangible impact on manufacturing operations.

Position Summary

We are seeking a high‑energy General Accountant with a solid foundation in manufacturing accounting. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial data, managing the month‑end close process, and providing critical cost analysis. This position is ideal for a candidate who understands the ‘shop floor’ and can translate production data into accurate financial reporting.

Core Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Execute the full‑cycle accounting process, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Month‑End Close: Manage accruals, prepaids, and journal entries with a focus on meeting tight corporate deadlines.
  • Manufacturing Costing: Analyze variances in material, labor, and overhead. Work closely with the production team to investigate discrepancies in standard vs. actual costs.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee cycle counting processes and perform month‑end inventory reconciliations.
  • Intercompany Accounting: Reconcile accounts across multiple Pangeo entities, ensuring proper elimination and adherence to transfer pricing.
  • Fixed Assets: Maintain the fixed asset sub‑ledger, ensuring all capital expenditures (tooling and machinery) are tracked and depreciated correctly.
  • Compliance & Audit: Assist in the preparation of year‑end audit files and ensure compliance with internal controls and Canadian ASPE/IFRS standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience specifically within a manufacturing environment (Automotive experience is a significant asset).
  • Education: University Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Designation: No CPA required. Equivalent practical experience in a high‑volume manufacturing setting is prioritized.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (Macros, VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and experience using a major ERP (SAP preferred).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) and Finished Goods (FG) valuation.

Candidate Attributes

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Strong communication skills for cross‑departmental collaboration.
  • Fluency in Mandarin is an asset but not required.
  • Located in either Windsor, Ontario or west end of the GTA (Mississauga & surrounding area).
