General Ledger Accountant

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented General Ledger Accountant to join our finance team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing and analyzing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will support the organization’s financial health and strategic decision-making, contributing to our mission of delivering transparent and reliable financial reporting. Responsibilities

• Manage the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate, complete, and compliant with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
• Reconcile accounts such as bank statements, accounts receivable/payable, and intercompany transactions to ensure data integrity
• Conduct detailed account analysis and resolve discrepancies promptly to maintain clean financial records
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities by providing insightful analysis of financial data
• Collaborate with internal teams on audits, internal controls, and process improvements to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency

Qualifications

• Proven experience in corporate accounting, public accounting or non-profit accounting environments with a strong understanding of GAAP and regulatory standards
• Proficiency in accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Quicken or similar platforms
• Solid knowledge of technical accounting concepts including accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation
• Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and securities law is highly desirable
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial reports and perform cash flow analysis
• Experience with financial report writing and interpretation to support management decision-making
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger management
• Ability to mentor junior team members while fostering a collaborative team environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, budgeting, and forecasting tasks
