About the role

Minimum requirements: Role Purpose The General Manager is responsible for the overall daily management of the company, ensuring smooth coordination between the oil laboratory, sales team, safety department and operations. The role focuses on driving sales growth, operational efficiency, client satisfaction and regulatory compliance while maintaining a high-performance culture. Minimum Requirements • STEM Degree (Engineering, Chemistry, Data Science, or similar) • Minimum 5 years management experience • Experience in technical services, engineering or industrial environments advantageous • Valid drivers license • Strong Microsoft Excel and reporting skills Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership • Oversee daily activities across all departments - Ensure efficient coordination between lab, safety, sales and operations - Remove operational bottlenecks - Ensure work orders are completed on time - Improve company processes and productivity Sales Management • Ensure monthly sales targets are achieved - Monitor individual sales performance - Drive new business development - Ensure client retention and satisfaction - Hold sales accountability meetings Client & Supplier Relations • Visit key clients weekly - Maintain strong client relationships - Resolve escalated client issues - Maintain strong supplier relationships - Negotiate pricing and service agreements where required Safety & Compliance Management • Ensure safety files are completed on time - Balance safety workload with operational needs - Prioritize safety work based on project urgency - Ensure compliance without unnecessarily delaying operations - Support safety officer with planning and prioritization Team Management • Lead department staff - Manage performance expectations - Support staff productivity - Resolve departmental conflicts - Build a culture of accountability and teamwork Business Growth • Identify new revenue opportunities - Improve internal processes - Support strategic growth initiatives - Assist director with business planning Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Sales - Monthly revenue targets achieved - New client acquisition - Client retention rate Operations - Work completion turnaround time - Reduction of project delays Safety - Safety files completed on schedule - Compliance maintained Leadership - Department productivity - Staff performance improvement Required Competencies • Strong leadership ability - Strong decision-making skills - Strong communication skills - Ability to manage pressure - Strong organizational ability - Commercial mindset - Problem solving ability Success Indicators Success in this role will be measured by: - Consistent achievement of sales targets - Efficient coordination between departments - Strong client relationships - On-time completion of safety files and work orders - Improved operational efficiency - Business growth Authority Level The General Manager has authority to: - Direct daily operational activities - Set departmental priorities - Approve operational schedules - Escalate resource needs to director - Implement process improvements Ideal Leadership Profile We are seeking a strong, technically capable leader who can balance operational demands, compliance requirements and sales growth while maintaining strong relationships with staff, clients and suppliers.
