We are seeking a highly motivated Geothermal Energy Systems Engineer to join our team in **Jos, Plateau, NG**. This hybrid role offers a blend of on-site project engagement and remote work flexibility. You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of geothermal power systems, playing a crucial role in advancing renewable energy infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and experience with energy system modeling.
Responsibilities: Design and engineer geothermal power plant systems, including well drilling, fluid circulation, heat exchange, and power generation components. Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments for new geothermal projects. Perform thermodynamic and fluid dynamic analyses to optimize system performance and efficiency. Develop and utilize simulation models to predict system behavior and identify potential operational issues. Collaborate with drilling experts, geologists, and project managers to ensure integrated project execution. Prepare technical specifications, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and equipment datasheets. Oversee the procurement, installation, and commissioning of geothermal system components. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot operational problems, and implement corrective actions. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards. Research and evaluate emerging geothermal technologies and materials. Contribute to the development of project proposals and technical reports. Manage project timelines and budgets related to system engineering tasks. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the energy sector, with specific experience in geothermal energy systems or thermodynamics. Proficiency in system design and analysis software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, MATLAB, AutoCAD). Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and power generation cycles. Experience with wellbore design, reservoir engineering, or surface plant design for geothermal applications is a significant plus. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong project management and communication abilities. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Familiarity with renewable energy policies and market trends. Experience in site assessments and geological data interpretation is advantageous. Commitment to sustainable energy development.
