Role Overview
The Senior Site Reliability Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) solutions for applications supported by a compliant technology organization. As part of the Engineering department within GFT Technology and Operations, this team will collaborate with the Delivery department of the same organization and any other IT partners to successfully complete its mission. Candidates require intermediate knowledge and experience working within an application development and/or technology operations organization. Execute production support roles and partner with SRE delivery teams for incident and problem management.
What You'll Do
- Execute application production support roles, including after-hours support.
- Develop SRE solutions (monitoring and alerting, ML anomaly detection, self-healing, and reliability testing).
- Understand multiple applications and technologies and how they interact to provide cross-functional support.
- Require understanding of how traditional and emerging technologies integrate.
- Assist with incident management and problem management for in-scope applications.
- Keep technology up-to-date (manage server patching, certificate renewals, etc.) and keep a close eye on automation opportunities.
- Ensure availability and uptime for in-scope applications, meeting service level objectives.
- Ensure compliance for all systems and applications in scope, including maintaining separation of duties.
- Implement monitoring and alerting, anomaly detection, self-healing, and reliability testing, supporting unit objectives for in-scope applications, adopting automated solutions.
- Apply design thinking and agile mindset, collaborating with SRE, Scrum Masters, and partner team leads.
- Proactively identify and resolve emerging issues (and partner with development teams) to address them in both the short and long term.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual work and human error.
- Make recommendations for process improvements and enhance systems and support documentation.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Must-have:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with various SRE languages and tools (Ansible, Dynatrace Managed, Moog, PagerDuty, ServiceNow, GitHub).
- Ability to automate manual support repeatable tasks and introduce 360-degree monitoring solutions.
- Intermediate knowledge of industry practices with a focus on SRE.
- Intermediate experience in various environments (cloud, Linux/Unix/Windows and services/APIs, databases).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with job schedulers such as Zeke, Stonebranch, Autosys, Airflow.
- Experience troubleshooting with logs, Grafana, Moog, Dynatrace.
- Understanding of SRE principles.
