Job Description

Join Pitney Bowes as Graduate Trainee Engineer – Cloud/Backend (Go Lang).

Impact

As Graduate Engineer (Cloud/Backend – Go Lang), you will be part of the team that designs and develops cloud‑based offerings. You will be deeply involved in leading the design/development of the SaaS‑based offering, collaborating across the organization with Architects, UX experts, product managers and other software developers. You will use your expertise in building highly scalable cloud solutions in an agile setting. You are expected to be hands‑on and up to date with the latest technology stack.

Responsibilities (The Job)

• Ownership of design and development of highly scalable, highly available, and performance‑optimized cloud applications.
• Constantly drive innovations in the platforms and products.
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code.
• Improve engineering standards, code reviews, and build necessary tooling.
• Mentor & guide the junior developers in the team.

Qualifications & Skills Required

Must Have

• Around 1+ years of experience should be in Golang.
• At least 1 year of experience in design/development in microservices‑based architecture, REST APIs, open‑source libraries, and frameworks.
• More than 1 year of hands‑on designing DB models and schema experience with NoSQL DB like MongoDB.
• 1+ years exposure to cloud native solutions and infrastructure using AWS (AWS IoT experience is a plus).
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, GitLab pipelines.
• Well‑versed with DevOps practices and tools like Sumo Logic, ArgoCD, Grafana, Splunk.
• Solid understanding and prior use of TDD (Test Driven Development) practices and automated UI testing practices.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Good team player.
• Strong in troubleshooting, unit test and debugging skills.

Good to Have

• Experience in Android application development.
• Exposure to IoT domain.
• Good understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.
• Understanding of the HTTP 2.0 protocol, web applications, performance and monitoring.
• Understanding of the differences between multiple delivery platforms, such as mobile vs desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform.
• Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems (OAuth 2.0).
• Proficient understanding of GitLab, CI/CD, DevOps practices.
• Knowledge in network architecture & server administration.
• Knowledge of front‑end technologies like Angular 16 and NodeJS is a plus.
• Great attention to detail and organizational skills.

Education

• Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or relevant field.
