About the role
What You Will Do:
- Collaborate with internal and external teams and application users to conceptualize, design, and prototype excellent user experiences while maintaining functionality and simple workflows.
- Define the design rationale and explain visual choices to cross-functional teams; express concepts verbally and visually.
- Research and implement modern web technologies to create innovative user interfaces and improve workflow efficiency.
- Develop estimates on scope and duration of work required for individuals or team(s) to deliver client requirements.
- Build efficient, reusable libraries of design information for future use.
- Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
- Ability to translate architecture and other technical solutions into design products.
- Recommend and support incremental implementation of enhancements to the accessibility, usability, and sustainability of the CDE-R, following government standards and industry best practices.
- Support UI enhancements that leverage CDE concepts to improve organization, search, and retrieval.
- Consult/make recommendations on UI improvements.
- Producing wireframes or mockups, as requested.
- Producing graphics, logos, etc., in support of UI improvements and alignment with NIH/NLM digital guidelines.
- Support design, development, and testing of applications, websites and future APIs, and produce relevant documentation for external audiences.
What You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of TWO 2) year of work experience with Federal Clients.
- Best practices in user interface/user experience (UI/UX) design, website usability and accessibility, producing wireframes and mockups.
- Strong ability to effectively liaise between groups of various stakeholders (e.g., developers, testers, trainers).
- Knowledge of 508 compliance.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Excellent communication skills – at ease with coordination and strategizing with leadership on initiatives, facilitating UI/UX sessions, and presenting to broad audiences when necessary.
- Experience working in agile, waterfall, or hybrid projects.
The annual salary range for this position is $75,800.00-$113,600.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
