Leidos' Open Air Sensors Division is seeking a Ground Based Digital Radar Program Manager to join our team in Huntsville, AL. This program involves a large and complex radar system requiring a diverse engineering and manufacturing skillset to ensure successful execution.

The Program Manager will be tasked with fulfilling mission commitments to customers while maintaining financial responsibilities within the Division. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the program team and managing the integrated master schedule.
  • Identifying and mitigating risks and opportunities.
  • Ensuring on-time completion of program deliverables.
  • Delivering exceptional overall program performance.

The selected candidate will be the primary programmatic interface with the customer, supporting briefings to the leadership in the Defense Sensors business area on program performance. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to lead cross-functional teams, and demonstrated judgment. Some travel will be necessary for meetings and test events.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as a customer/client advocate, managing expectations and results.
  • Provide technical oversight for advanced technology development programs.
  • Lead project teams throughout the product delivery life cycle for both hardware and software development.
  • Offer strategic thought leadership regarding technical management, system solutions, and client management across multiple development projects.
  • Assist senior leaders in defining strategies, financial performance, and budget control for existing programs.
  • Oversee financial estimates and reviews for new development efforts.
  • Lead and develop program execution professionals within the department.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience with 15+ years in the defense/aerospace industry or 13+ years with an MS degree.
  • 5+ years of management experience in technical programs involving development and production in the defense industry or similar environments.
  • Proven leadership with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience measuring scope, schedule, and cost performance, with a strong understanding of Earned Value techniques and tools.
  • Successful history of leading cross-functional teams to meet commitments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong customer interaction and presentation skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess or be able to obtain an active Secret clearance and Top-secret clearance.
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from PMI preferred.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality systems and compliance.
  • Active DoD Top-Secret clearance.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes and risk management techniques.
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and quality systems.
  • Experience in subcontract management and proposal management.
