About the role

Role Summary

The Brand and Communications Officer is responsible for developing, managing, and implementing MES’s brand and communications strategy. The role focuses on strengthening the organisation’s visibility, reputation, and stakeholder relationships in support of service delivery, fundraising, and partnership development. The position ensures consistent, engaging, and effective messaging across all platforms, enhancing donor confidence, stakeholder engagement, and public awareness of MES’s mission, services, and impact.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and protect the MES brand to ensure a consistent, positive, and professional public image.
  • Strengthen brand awareness and credibility among donors, partners, beneficiaries, and the broader community.
  • Ensure consistent use of brand identity, messaging, tone, and visual elements across all platforms and materials.
  • Position MES as a trusted and impactful organisation to support fundraising and partnership growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to enhance brand loyalty and long-term support.
  • Identify opportunities to promote MES’s mission, values, services, and impact.
  • Monitor public perception of the brand and recommend strategies to strengthen reputation and visibility.

Brand Administration

  • Maintain and update brand guidelines, templates, and approved marketing materials.
  • Keep accurate records of brand assets, campaigns, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Coordinate internal approvals to ensure all materials comply with branding standards.
  • Assist with planning, budgeting, and reporting on brand and marketing activities.

Communications Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement internal and external communications aligned with MES’s objectives.
  • Create, coordinate, and publish content across all communication channels, including:
    • Social media platforms
    • Website
    • Newsletters
    • Radio and written media
    • Online fundraising platforms
  • Promote MES services, campaigns, events, and initiatives through targeted and strategic communications.
  • Build and manage relationships with media, service providers, and communication partners.
  • Ensure communications are clear, accurate, timely, and aligned with MES messaging and brand guidelines.
  • Maintain current and relevant content on all digital platforms.
  • Support transparency and stakeholder engagement through effective communication practices.

Communications Administration

  • Manage communication schedules, content calendars, and posting timelines.
  • Maintain databases for media contacts, mailing lists, donors, and partners where applicable.
  • Track engagement, reach, and campaign performance and compile reports as required.
  • Coordinate internal communication requests and ensure timely delivery.
  • Organise, archive, and maintain communication materials, records, and reports.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant qualification in Communications, Marketing, Branding, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in brand management and communications, preferably within an NGO or social impact environment.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience managing digital platforms and social media channels.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships.
