Head of Accounting - Digital Assets

Our client, a high-growth institutional financial technology firm operating across traditional and digital asset markets is seeking a Head of Accounting Controller to join its global finance leadership team in NYC.

This role will own platform and product accounting, global close and consolidation, and help scale controllership operations in a complex, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the platform/product accounting function, driving automation and efficiency
• Own global monthly close, consolidation, and financial statement preparation
• Maintain general ledger integrity and compliance with US GAAP and local requirements
• Provide technical accounting leadership across revenue recognition, derivatives, borrowing/lending, MTM, equity compensation, and business combinations
• Design and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Act as primary contact for external auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders
• Partner cross-functionally with tax, treasury, legal, systems, and finance transformation teams
• Oversee ERP operations (NetSuite or similar), including integrations and optimizations
• Build and manage a globally distributed accounting team
• Support audits, ad hoc analyses, and strategic initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• CPA or equivalent preferred
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior leadership of global teams
• Background in financial services, fintech, banking, broker-dealer, or digital assets
• Strong technical accounting and multi-currency experience
• Hands‑on ERP experience (NetSuite or equivalent)
• Proven ability to scale processes and controls in high‑growth environments
• Strong communication skills and ability to operate autonomously
