Head of Architecture

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Head of Architecture with deep expertise in payment systems and retail transaction processing. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll manage a small, highly capable team of three architects while remaining actively involved in technical design and decision‑making. You’ll be responsible for defining and reviewing architectural patterns, guiding implementation alongside development teams, and ensuring all solutions meet stringent requirements for scalability, performance, and security. Working closely with developers, solution architects, and business stakeholders, you’ll contribute to complex, high‑impact initiatives that shape the future of digital payments across multiple countries in the region.

Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience in payment systems, with a strong focus on retail transaction processing (essential)
• Solid technical foundation, with background in software development and/or solution architecture highly advantageous
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into modular, scalable, and secure technical solutions
• Strong analytical thinking combined with clear, effective communication skills
• Experience leading or mentoring technical teams (team size can be small, given the maturity of the team)

Qualification

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or a related field preferred
• Demonstrated experience within retail payments or transaction processing environments
• Exposure to software development, testing practices, and enterprise architecture desirable.
