Role Description
The Head of Autonomy will lead the development of advanced autonomous systems, oversee the integration of software and hardware, and drive cutting‑edge innovations in hybrid aerial and underwater vehicle autonomy. Responsibilities include managing R&D teams, designing and implementing autonomous navigation algorithms, ensuring reliable system performance, analyzing data to optimize performance and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet project goals. This pivotal role also involves contributing to long‑term technical strategies and advancing the organization’s leadership in hybrid vehicle technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and define the complete autonomy roadmap
- Architect the full autonomy stack (Perception → Localization → Planning → Control)
- Develop sensor fusion and state estimation algorithms
- Build navigation & path planning for GPS-denied environments
- Design advanced control systems.
- Lead integration with autopilots like PX4 / ArduPilot
- Oversee ROS/ROS2-based autonomy software development
- Drive AI-enabled mission intelligence & obstacle avoidance
- Lead field testing, validation, and system benchmarking
- Build and mentor a high-performance autonomy team
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in autonomous system development, navigation algorithms, and machine learning applications
- Proficiency in robotics, sensor fusion, SLAM, path planning, and control systems
- Strong programming skills in Python, C++, and Robot Operating System (ROS)
- Knowledge of AI technologies, computer vision, and real-time embedded systems
- Experience leading technical teams and managing R&D projects effectively
- Master's or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, AI, or a related field
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to work collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams
- Prior experience in drone technology or autonomous vehicles is highly desirable
