Head of Engineering - Mining Sector

Our client, a leading organisation within the mining and resources sector is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Engineering to lead and optimise its engineering function across operations. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving engineering excellence, ensuring asset reliability, and aligning operational delivery with business strategy in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of engineering strategies aligned to overall business objectives.
• Oversee asset management, maintenance planning, and equipment availability to maximise production output and minimise downtime.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate risks.
• Establish and implement engineering standards, SOPs, and governance frameworks.
• Manage budgets, monitor cost controls, and deliver on financial targets.
• Provide technical leadership and support across departments, ensuring best practices are applied.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external partners.
• Lead, coach, and develop engineering teams to drive performance and capability.

Minimum Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil).
• GCC (Government Certificate of Competence) – Mandatory.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience within the mining industry.
• At least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role.
• Extensive experience with TMM machines.
• Strong knowledge of mining legislation, on-surface mining operations, and engineering practices.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale operations, maintenance, and asset optimisation.
