About
The Head of Engineering is a senior executive appointment, reporting directly to the Managing Director. This is a high-accountability leadership role that sits at the intersection of technical authority, commercial delivery, and team development.
The successful candidate will be the group’s most senior engineering voice: governing the technical quality of all project work, leading on high-stakes proposals and bid engineering, interfacing directly with major clients and building an engineering function capable of scaling with the business.

Qualifications
- BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering (or closely related discipline)
Criteria
- Minimum 10 years of post-qualification engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or lead role
- Demonstrable hands-on experience with solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) — system design, integration, and commissioning
- Proven track record of engineering leadership on complex, high-value projects in a commercial or industrial context
- Competence in FIDIC contract frameworks and engineering claims / variation order management
- Strong working knowledge of South African electrical regulations (OHS Act, CoC, SANS/IEC standards)
- Experience operating across sub-Saharan African markets — understanding of cross-border logistics, in-country regulatory environments, and project risk
- Demonstrated ability to present technical content with authority to non-technical stakeholders including boards, listed company executives, and financiers
