Head of Engineering Services – York, PA
Summary
This senior engineering leadership position oversees all engineering service functions supporting project execution across North America, providing centralized expertise to all projects. The incumbent provides direct management and oversight to managers responsible for concurrent engineering, auxiliary systems and automation, documentation, and drafting. The role ensures that engineering services are delivered safely, reliably, on time, and in compliance with engineering standards and customer requirements. The incumbent drives engineering excellence, fosters continuous improvement, and ensures effective integration across design engineering, procurement, manufacturing, project management, and field operations. The mission is to achieve total customer satisfaction through high‑quality and consistent engineering deliverables throughout the product and project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple engineering service functions through their respective managers, ensuring coordinated and effective support across all phases of project execution.
- Maintain an engineering services organization capable of delivering safe, reliable, and high‑quality outputs.
- Ensure engineering service deliverables meet scope, quality, and scheduling commitments.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, design guidelines, processes, and technical governance across all supporting functions.
- Lead quality and risk management processes (FMEA, RCA, CAR), while ensuring lessons learned are captured, implemented, and continuously improve engineering service performance.
- Provide engineering support to sourcing, manufacturing, and field operations to ensure consistent quality throughout the product lifecycle.
- Collaborate with design engineering teams to support OTO and OTC activities, including schedules, work packages, and hour estimates.
- Serve as an internal and external representative for engineering services, effectively communicating complex technical issues.
- Support the training and development of engineering staff to sustain world‑class technical capability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in hydro or energy‑related industries.
- At least 10 years in engineering leadership roles with responsibility over multidisciplinary teams, including direct management of managers.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, commitment to engineering excellence, and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
Physical Demands
- Talk and/or hear in an office setting (low noise level).
- Frequently stand and walk in an office environment for 4–8 hours; occasionally reach with hands and arms, lift, stoop, or crouch.
- Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- May be required to lift objects up to 50 lb, climb ladders, and perform other tasks related to an industrial environment.
- Travel may be required.
