Head of Human Resources – Global Insurance Business
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Human Resources to lead the HR function for a newly established, global insurance business. This position will report directly to the COO. The company comprises Managing General Agents (MGAs) and an insurance fee business, with a diverse workforce of approximately 700 employees located across the UK, Nordics, Spain, and the United States. This role is based in New York, NY, and reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Global HR Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy that aligns with the business’s global objectives and supports growth across all regions.
- Talent Acquisition & Management: Oversee international recruitment, onboarding, and talent management processes to attract, retain, and develop top talent in competitive markets.
- Mergers & Acquisitions: Lead HR due diligence, integration planning, and execution for M&A activities, ensuring smooth transitions and alignment of people practices.
- Employee Relations & Engagement: Foster a culture of inclusion, engagement, and high performance across geographically dispersed teams.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with local labor laws, regulations, and company policies in all operating countries.
- Compensation & Benefits: Design and manage competitive compensation and benefits programs tailored to the needs of each region.
- Organizational Development: Drive initiatives related to leadership development, workforce planning, and change management to support business transformation.
- HR Operations: Oversee HR systems, processes, and analytics for efficiency and effectiveness across the global business.
- Stakeholder Management: Partner with senior leaders, managers, and external advisors to support strategic business objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role within a global organization, preferably in insurance, financial services, or related sectors.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing HR for multinational teams, including the UK, Nordics, Spain, and the US.
- Significant hands‑on experience in Human Resources aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including integration and change management.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices across multiple jurisdictions.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to execute operationally and drive results.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree or HR certifications preferred.
- Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
Location & Reporting
- This position is based in New York, NY, with regular interaction with teams in the UK, Nordics, Spain, and the US.
- The Head of HR will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
Compensation
- Salary range: $230K – $350K (general guideline only).
- Salaries are based upon a wide range of factors considered in making the compensation decision, including, but not limited to, candidate skills, experience, education and training, the scope and responsibilities of the role, as well as market and business considerations.
