Head of Product
MT Newswires
About the role
About MT Newswires
MT Newswires is a global financial news provider serving institutional investors, asset managers, broker-dealers, wealth platforms, and the world's largest data terminals. Our coverage spans U.S. and international public equities, macro and policy, and — uniquely among the major wires — deep and wide, original reporting on U.S. public and private companies. In 2026, MT Newswires became the exclusive provider of U.S. private company coverage on the Bloomberg Terminal, and we are actively expanding our distribution into the next generation of AI-native platforms via Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and other frontier AI assistants.
We sit at an unusual intersection: a newsroom with the pace and discipline of a wire service, a product portfolio reaching the most demanding audience in financial information, and a leading position in distributing licensed news to AI platforms. The Head of Product is the person who builds the product organization to match that opportunity
Role Summary
The Head of Product overseas the MT Newswires global editorial products and third party MCP feed and video solutions portfolios that reach our global clients in every segment of financial services. Oversight of these products to ensure product strategy matches execution and is consistent with sales and marketing material. Collaboration internally and externally (clients and partners) to ensure product and service is consistent with client needs and expectations.
This role is equal parts product leadership, technical fluency, and editorial oversight. The successful candidate is a product executive who can sit comfortably with the CEO and CTO on questions of latency, coverage, and integration. The Head of Product reports to the CEO and is a member of the senior leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Manage the product strategy, roadmap, and prioritization for MT Newswires' editorial and MCP feeds product portfolio across public and private markets.
- Translate the Company's commercial strategy into a coherent, sequenced product plan to oversee and QA products and services.
- Define and track product KPIs (coverage breadth, latency, accuracy, client engagement, partner utilization, retention) and report against them to the senior leadership team.
MCP API & AI-Platform Distribution
- Manage MT Newswires' integrations with frontier AI platforms (Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and others), working with platform partners on listing, discoverability, schema fit, and joint go-to-market.
- Oversee and collaborate with CTO and third-party partners on the MCP server's reliability, scalability, and security posture, including SLAs appropriate to institutional and platform-grade consumption.
- Maintain a clear product point of view on what good looks like for AI consumption of licensed news — prompt-shape, citation, freshness, deduplication — and represent that view to partners and standards bodies.
Editorial Standards & Practices
- Oversee the editorial standards and practices that govern MT Newswires' public and private market news services, in close partnership with the Editor-in-Chief.
- Ensure that product surfaces (APIs, MCP, partner feeds) preserve and accurately convey editorial signals — byline, dateline, timestamp, source attribution, corrections, embargoes — across every channel of distribution.
- Build the feedback loops between client/partner usage and editorial coverage decisions, so that what the newsroom produces, how it is structured, and how it is delivered reflect actual reader and platform need.
Cross-Functional Operations & Project Management
- Serve as a primary product point of contact for feed clients, managing setup communication, pre- and post-launch task tracking, and ongoing operational dialogue.
- Oversee story-monitoring routines for recurring and obligatory editorial deliverables, including weekly market wraps and contractual story releases, to ensure on-time, on-spec delivery to clients and partners.
- Refresh and maintain MT Newswires' technical product documentation, separating QA documentation and marketing collateral into distinct, fit-for-purpose documents owned by the appropriate functions.
- Run organization-wide task management, including consolidating and summarizing notes from cross-functional meetings, generating and tracking action items, and driving task communication and follow-through across organizational silos.
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years leading a product organization, in financial information, news, market data, B2B SaaS, or developer-platform businesses.
- Direct experience shipping products consumed by financial users is required.
- Technical fluency.
- Deep working knowledge of APIs and developer products, including authentication, rate limiting, schema design, and SLAs.
- Familiarity with the Model Context Protocol or comparable AI-platform integration patterns; if not direct MCP experience, then a track record of shipping API products in environments with comparable contract discipline.
- Editorial judgment.
- Demonstrated experience working with newsroom or editorial teams, with a clear understanding of the difference between content and product, and between editorial judgment and product judgment.
- Comfort defending editorial standards in commercial conversations.
- Communication. Excellent written and verbal communication. Able to write a crisp internal memo, a clear API spec, and a credible standards document with equal facility.
- Tools proficiency. Strong working proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (formulas, sorting, filtering, pivot tables) for project tracking, reporting, and data analysis. Comfort with task-management and documentation tools used to coordinate cross-functional work.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in journalism, finance, computer science, or business is a plus but not required.
Preferred
- Direct experience at a wire service, financial data terminal, or institutional research provider (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv/LSEG, Dow Jones, S&P, Moody's, Reuters, AP, FactSet).
- Hands-on experience launching or operating an MCP server, AI-platform integration, or comparable AI distribution product.
- Familiarity with copyright, licensing, and content-use frameworks as they apply to news content distributed through AI platforms.
- Experience building or refreshing editorial standards documentation in an environment where AI tooling is in active use.
Compensation and Benefits
MT Newswires offers a competitive total compensation package including base salary and performance-based bonus. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k) with Company match; generous paid time off; and a flexible hybrid work arrangement. The specific compensation range will be discussed with qualified candidates and is calibrated to experience, location, and market.
