Head of Product Management
Ericsson
About the role
About Us
At Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions, we are seeking a Head of Product Management to accelerate technology adoption and deliver high-value capabilities that solve real operational challenges for our customers. You will own and drive our most critical product domains and initiatives: Wireless WAN (Branch, IoT, Mobile, FWA), Network Security (ZTNA, Private 5G, WAN edge security), LAN extension, and Edge AI.
Your organization will own the full product lifecycle—from discovery through delivery to renewal—across a portfolio spanning both hardware (routers, modems, gateways) and software (NetCloud OS, EdgeAI, security). Operating globally, you will lead and coach a team of product managers and partner closely with engineering, marketing, sales, compliance, legal, partnerships, and finance to execute the product strategy and drive transformational customer growth. You will also help scale our platform worldwide, expanding into adjacent markets and new product categories.
This is a platform-defining moment. The convergence of Wireless WAN, LAN, Security, and Edge AI represents one of the most significant inflection points in enterprise networking—and it is happening now. In this role, you will report to the SVP, Product Management and serve as a key member of the Product leadership team.
What You Will Do
Define and Own Product Strategy
- Own the definition of product roadmaps across multiple cellular generations and establish a unifying strategic framework across Wireless WAN (Branch, IoT, Mobile, FWA), Network Security (ZTNA, Private 5G, WAN edge security), LAN extension, and Edge AI.
- Make and hold hard strategic trade-offs — identifying which product lines to accelerate, sustain, or stop — and communicating the rationale clearly to stakeholders across engineering, marketing, sales, finance, and legal. Ask the hard questions, be able to determine what not build, and explain why in terms that stakeholders understand based on analysis, data, and business objectives.
- Lead the portfolio's evolution toward AIOps, anomaly detection, predictive optimization, and natural language interaction — shipping AI capabilities that reduce operational burden for lean enterprise IT teams. Consistently and repeatedly apply AI/Ops methodology for platform automation with associated value confirmation for the user.
- Business Performance: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to feature adoption, customer value, and overall product success. Keep a constant eye on the competition and related industries to understand trends and opportunities for differentiation
Drive Cross-Functional Execution
- Own the full product lifecycle — from discovery through delivery to renewal — across a portfolio spanning hardware (routers, modems, gateways) and software (NetCloud OS, EdgeAI, security)
- Establish operating model discipline: decision rights, RACI, pre-commit checkpoints for medium- and high-complexity initiatives, and competitive intelligence workflows that run systematically
- Represent product strategy to executive leadership, Ericsson parent organization, and major enterprise customers — holding positions under pressure with data, logic, and conviction
- Coordinate globally across engineering, marketing, sales, compliance, legal, partnerships, and finance to direct planning and execution across the full product lifecycle and deliver cohesive product outcomes
Build and develop the PM Organization
- Recruit, coach, retain, and develop a high-performing product management team — creating the psychological safety and operating norms that enable PMs to own their areas rather than escalate every decision
- Address attrition gaps through targeted hiring and invest in the long-term capability of the function
The Skills You Bring
Domain Expertise
- Genuine fluency in respective domains: WWAN/5G, network security, and enterprise networking/wireless — you can evaluate technical trade-offs and challenge specifications without deferring every architectural question
- Hardware-plus-SaaS product experience: you've shipped products requiring coordination between hardware lifecycle constraints (carrier certification cycles, supply chain, SKU discipline, end-of-life planning) and SaaS iteration cadences. You’ve managed relationships with chipset and ODM/OEM partners
- Experience with AI/ML Products: Proven track record of defining and launching products or features that rely on machine learning, predictive analytics, or large-scale data processing (e.g., AIOps, predictive maintenance, resource optimization).
Strategic And Leadership Capabilities
- Executive presence and stakeholder influence at the C-suite level — you communicate strategic rationale clearly, hold positions under pressure, and influence without direct authority across functions
- Demonstrated ability to rationalize a fragmented portfolio — you've stopped, deprioritized, or killed work that had organizational defenders, explained the reasoning, and maintained team trust through the process
- Platform coherence track record — you've taken a fragmented product surface (multiple codebases, inconsistent UI, duplicated services) and created a unified platform strategy that engineering aligned around
- People-builder mindset — you view recruiting, coaching, and developing PMs as a core part of the role, not a tax on your time, and you have specific examples of PMs you've grown, promoted, or developed
What Energizes You
- You're energized by strategic ambiguity — open questions about product identity, platform architecture, and market positioning are the most interesting part of the job, not a problem to wait out
- You thrive in hardware-software-platform complexity — chipsets, firmware, carrier certifications, cloud orchestration, AI inference, and enterprise security standards in a single roadmap is intellectually interesting, not overwhelming
- Competitive intensity motivates you — you have a clear point of view on where genuine differentiation lies and how to sharpen it against well-resourced competitors
Minimum Requirements
- Proven track record of shipping cellular modem and WWAN connectivity products from concept through carrier certification and mass market deployment. Combined with SaaS/cloud software - both must appear in the work history
- Experience working with MNOs, MVNOs, driving regulatory & carrier certification process (FCC, PTCRB), and having strong relationships with WWAN module vendors
- 15+ years of relevant product management and team leadership experience in an Agile, continuous delivery model, with demonstrated understanding of the tension between hardware release cycles and SaaS iteration cadences
- Experience building and scaling a product management organization — including a passion for recruiting, coaching, and engaging great product management talent and establishing team operating norms
- AI product experience is required: shipped AI products to production with a defined success metric and measurable outcome
- Executive presence with demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior leaders (C-suite and board-level stakeholders) across product, engineering, sales, marketing, and finance
- Data-backed synthesis of customer behavior and product line performance; Able to communicate the customer narrative to influence others to make customer-backed decisions and take fast action
- Entrepreneurial mindset: be innovative, willing, and able to challenge the status quo – ability to make and hold hard strategic trade-offs, including stopping or deprioritizing work with organizational support, and managing the friction that follows
- Education: Bachelor's degree, preferably in an area of technical competence (Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, etc.). An Advanced degree or MBA is a plus.
- Location: Santa Clara (preference), Boise, or Plano are sites for position consideration. This role is not remote, and the hire is expected to be in the office at least 3 days a week.
- Travel: at least 20% of the time
