Industrial Engineer

An engineering firm in Bellville, Western Cape is seeking a Industrial Engineer to provide technical expertise on design and construction projects. You will prepare calculations and simulations, produce detailed designs and specifications, review contractor submissions, and conduct site inspections. Professional registration or active progress towards it is expected.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all engineering work complies with relevant standards, codes of practice, health and safety regulations, and environmental legislation.
• Mentor and supervise junior engineers, technicians, and graduate trainees, providing technical and professional development guidance.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are clearly communicated.
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programmes for industrial plant and equipment to maximise reliability.
• Conduct technical analyses including stress analysis, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and structural integrity using industry-standard software.
• Monitor and control project budgets, schedules, and resources, identifying risks and implementing mitigation measures.

Requirements

• Strong project management skills including scheduling, cost estimation, and contract administration.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating across engineering disciplines for integrated project outcomes.
• Proficiency in engineering design and analysis software relevant to the discipline such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, or MATLAB.
• A minimum of five to eight years of postgraduate engineering experience with demonstrable project achievements in the relevant sector.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to apply engineering first principles to complex technical challenges.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills to produce clear technical reports and present to varied audiences.
• Professional registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng, or candidate registration actively working towards professional registration.

Master's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Management
