Senior HOGAN Programmer

About

We are seeking a Senior HOGAN Programmer for an 8-month contract (ending in December) within a leading organization in the banking sector.

The ideal candidate must have a strong background in banking or financial services and will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and support of core banking applications within the Hogan environment. This role requires solid mainframe expertise to ensure system stability, performance, and alignment with business requirements

Responsibilities

• Deliver against assigned development, maintenance, and support tasks within agreed timelines and quality standards
• Analyze business and technical requirements to design appropriate system solutions
• Develop and maintain batch and online programs using COBOL within the Hogan environment
• Perform coding, testing, and implementation of system changes
• Support and maintain existing applications, ensuring minimal system downtime
• Prepare and execute JCL for batch processing
• Develop and maintain online screens using FPS and reports using SPS
• Perform unit, integration, and regression testing
• Provide production support, including standby and after-hours support where required
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve system incidents and defects
• Ensure compliance with governance, standards, and change control processes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business Analysts, Testers, and Architects

Experience and Qualifications

• Relevant IT qualification or equivalent work experience
• 5–10 years’ experience in a mainframe development environment
• Proven experience within the banking / financial services sector
• Strong experience working on core banking systems

• Mainframe technologies (z/OS environment)
• JCL (Job Control Language)
• TSO / ISPF
• Experience in batch and online processing environments
• Production support experience
